$80K- $120K per year + equity
About Cellsense
Cellsense manufactures sustainable products for the fashion, jewelry, and beauty industries utilizing our proprietary material made from Algae and Cellulose. Cellsense aims to replace plastics and resins, and in doing so eliminate major sources of microplastics and heavy metal pollution. With our material, we can achieve a wide range of colors, clarities, forms, and even unique properties such as bio-fluorescence. Our novel manufacturing systems enable us to produce complex beaded textiles at scale, replacing overseas manual labor with highly automated domestic production. Currently, we are focused on scaling up our process while engaging in paid pilots with industry partners. You will join us at an exciting stage of our growth.
The Role
We're looking for a hands-on engineer to own production at Cellsense as we scale. You'll be responsible for taking our manufacturing systems from prototype to pilot plant, developing and implementing the necessary tools and processes to meet growing demand from our brand partners. As a key member of our small team, you'll collaborate closely with our founder and have a meaningful impact on the development and deployment of Cellsense's next-generation production capabilities.
Responsibilities
Design and iterate on hardware necessary for Cellsense to scale production
Build and optimize automated material deposition systems
Customize molds for diverse customer use cases. Source components and work with suppliers to manage parts and lead times
Work across disciplines to help develop exciting new products
Own and develop engineering at Cellsense
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
3+ years of engineering experience, including taking projects from concept to completion
Hands-on experience designing, building, and troubleshooting physical systems
Proficiency in 3D CAD software of choice
Familiarity with prototyping methods such as machining, 3D printing, and laser cutting
Experience with manufacturing processes or automation is a strong plus
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Self-motivated problem-solver who thrives in a startup environment
What We Offer
Compensation range: $80000 - $120000 per year + equity
Health insurance
Direct ownership of production systems and processes
Opportunity to work on meaningful environmental impact as part of a tightly knit team
Job Type: Full-time, in-person
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Travel: 10-15% (domestic)
Ideal Start Date: February 2026
